Expat Blog Awards 2013 Contest

Expat Blog Awards 2013 Contest Entry

Guess what?! I’ve been nominated for the Expat Blog Awards 2013 Top List Writing Contest! It’s the first time Italy Project 365 has ever been a part of a blogger contest and I’m very honored and excited!

ExpatsBlog is an organization that gathers expat bloggers, helps to promote their blogs and provides information and advice for the expatriate community. It’s an essential meeting point for bloggers globally and for me, a nice little reminder that we’re not all completely crazy for leaving our home country (okay – maybe we’re a little crazy, but at least we’re in it together!).  There are nearly 100 Italy blogs registered on Expatsblog.com, but only 5 of them are based in Bologna Italy, and Italy Project 365 just happens to be one of them!

Top 10 Most Guarded Secrets of Bologna

The theme for this year’s Expat Blog Awards contest is “Top Lists” – bloggers must submit an article with a list about their country, region or city. This year, I’ve been nominated for my article entitled, “Top 10 Most Guarded Secrets of Bologna (and why you should visit Italy’s most underrated city)”, where I’ve revealed 10 fascinating things about my city that I think both expats and tourists alike would love to know about.

Since I’ve moved to Bologna I’ve discovered so many wonderful treasures here – things that really make this city stand out from the rest of Italy. Funny thing is, Bologna is often bypassed by tourists and expats alike – and I have a sneaking suspicion that this is because the people of Bologna don’t want foreigners to know about it. So before you read my 10 secrets, let me let you in on one little secret: Bologna is beautiful. Shhhh!
Ok, now that you’re in the “know”, you might as well head on over to the Expats Blog site and read my other 10 secrets of Bologna. You can also help Italy Project 365 win from NOW until December 20th by doing the following:

  1. Go to the Expats Blog site and read my article.
  2. “Like” my article by clicking the “Like” button at the bottom.
  3. Write a sincere comment of more than 10 words under my article on the Expats Blog site (please note that you may have to enter your e-mail address on the Expats Blog site in order to comment).
  4. Share this page with your friends and family!
  5. Subscribe to my blog below so I can keep track of voters.

If I win, I will send ONE lucky voter “BOLOGNA IN A BOX”, a package of all the typical Bolognese products, including Mortadella, Parmesan Cheese, Aged Balsamic Vinegar and, in place of real tortellini but equally delicious, Chocolate Tortellini. 100% made in Italy, hand-packaged and sent personally from me. Just make sure that you subscribe below after you vote!

Grazie a tutti and stay tuned!

  1. Hi Sarah!

I have had a fun morning looking around your blog. I had read and commented on your Bologna Top 10 Secrets list – wonderful tips. Funny thing was, I thought Italy really had a shot at taking the world-wide gold medal. Those gosh-darn Spaniards! :-)

Anyhow, I’m glad I was also in the contest because it led me to great blogs like yours. Can’t wait to read more. Ciao for now and auguri!

  2. Fab article and definitely keen to venture out of Ancona to see the delights of Bologna now! (I used to ask where the Italian’s had visited in their world and they’d say things like “sono stato in stati uniti, inghilterra, scozzia e bologna” which seemed weird to me. Took me ages to work out they were saying Poland (Polania). So for 6 months I thought Bologna was quite the place to go!!!

    • Hahaha – I know exactly what you mean about the whole Polania/Bologna confusion. Met someone from Poland recently and for awhile I thought he spoke really strange Italian…
I, myself, have to make over to Ancona. I could use some sunshine on the beach!
